The Originals

Directed by Cristina Costantini, Alfie Koetter

You might not have heard of the Union Street Boys. But if you were a 10 years old in 1972 in South Brooklyn, their name alone would make you pee your pants. That’s because they were the meanest, mightiest child gang south of Atlantic Avenue. Or at least that’s how they tell it. This animated documentary, narrated by the Union Street Boys themselves, tells the story of five rapscallions growing up in Italian American community of Carroll Gardens, where money was tight but friendships were tighter.
